A statistic said that out of every 100 Christians that go into Uni, only 20 come out still Christians. Pretty Scary stuff! Tips for surviving at Uni ...

Keep reading Bible (God's Word)

Keep worshipping God

Keep praying

Keep meeting with other Christians (sword sharpens sword)

Make sure you get up on a Sunday morning and go to Church!

In Uni life you need to be on fire for God otherwise you just blend in with the non-Christian crowd.
UWNCUnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12095818.post-1127290900282035862005-09-21T09:14:00.000+01:002005-09-21T09:21:40.286+01:00Welcome all Freshers!A big hello to all new students at UWN this year (and all you others still lingering about!) It's a good idea to have a good look around to see which one you'd feel most comfortable in, but here's some of the churches that are nearest to campus.

Newport City Church
Meets on Campus in E10 Rathmell Lecture Theatre - very convenient if you live on campus! Starts at 10.30am.

Lodge Farm Evangelical Church
At the top of Lodge Road, a little bit of a climb to get to, but does you good on a Sunday morning.

St Julian's Baptist Church
Beaufort Road
About 2 miles from campus - a decent enough walking distance.

Duckpool Road Baptist Church
Further towards town, you'd probably need to bike or drive to get there from campus without tiring yourself out for the service.

Newport Gateway Church

7 Rockfield St,
Newport
NP19 7DG

Roughly about the same distance away (maybe not quite as far) as Duckpool Road.

If you don't want to go to church on your own, email newportcu@gmail.com and we'll arrange someone to go with.
UWNCUnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-12095818.post-1113238004676153742005-04-11T17:46:00.000+01:002005-04-12T14:37:29.373+01:00What We Believe
We belong to an organisation called UCCF (Universities and Colleges Christian Fellowship), which is a network of Christian unions all around the country. They have published a "doctrinal basis" which sets out what it is we actually believe as Christians. This is what it says:

The basis of the Fellowship shall be the fundamental truths of Christianity, as revealed in Holy Scripture, including:

There is one God in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.

God is sovereign in creation, revelation, redemption and final judgement.

The Bible, as originally given, is the inspired and infallible Word of God. It is the supreme authority in all matters of belief and behaviour.

Since the fall, the whole of humankind is sinful and guilty, so that everyone is subject to God's wrath and condemnation.

The Lord Jesus Christ, God's incarnate Son, is fully God; he was born of a virgin; his humanity is real and sinless; he died on the cross, was raised bodily from death and is now reigning over heaven and earth.

Sinful human beings are redeemed from the guilt, penalty and power of sin only through the sacrificial death once and for all time of their representative and substitute, Jesus Christ, the only mediator between them and God.

Those who believe in Christ are pardoned all their sins and accepted in God's sight only because of the righteousness of Christ credited to them; this justification is God's act of undeserved mercy, received solely by trust in him and not by their own efforts.

The Holy Spirit alone makes the work of Christ effective to individual sinners, enabling them to turn to God from their sin and to trust in Jesus Christ.

The Holy Spirit lives in all those he has regenerated. He makes them increasingly Christlike in character and behaviour and gives them power for their witness in the world.

The one holy universal church is the Body of Christ, to which all true believers belong.

The Lord Jesus Christ will return in person, to judge everyone, to execute God's just condemnation on those who have not repented and to receive the redeemed to eternal glory.

Agree/Disagree?
